'Fall is cancelled': 'Christian Girl Autumn' influencer Caitlin Covington announces she won't continue her fall video tradition this year

If somebody asked you to close your eyes and think about the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to the season of fall, what would it be? It is possible that you will conjure up the image of the rich oranges, reds, and browns of fall foliage, maybe think about Halloween, or even recall the taste of a pumpkin spice latte. Should you be the kind of person who spends too much time looking at memes, however, you will likely think of a smiling, perfectly coiffured woman in an oversized scarf and hat frolicking among the trees in Vermont. 

Since 2019, influencer Caitlin Covington has been bringing joy to the internet by sharing her love of all things fall after she unexpectedly became the poster girl for the Christian Girl Autumn meme. First imagined as a kind of tongue-in-cheek response to the wild antics of Hot Girl Summer, it blossomed into a wholesome yearly tradition that heralded the start of the season for chronically online individuals. All is not well in the land of eternal autumn, though.

  • On August 19th, the influencer posted an emotional TikTok to announce that she would not be making any fall videos this year, claiming that she felt too much pressure “to make each video better than the last”. 

    Once the news reached the wider internet, it is fair to say that a lot of people were devastated and concerned for her well-being (although some questioned the seriousness of it all and/or her motivations). If the season doesn't get the official Christian Girl Autumn stamp of approval this year, it may well turn out to be a flop.
